The emergence of overcharging technology has greatly alleviated the "charging anxiety" of new energy vehicle consumers and also brought huge market growth. As the development of overcharging projects accelerates, what opportunities will it bring to companies in the industry chain? What other problems are faced in the construction and layout of supercharging stations?
In the assembly workshop of a charging pile company in Guangdong, workers are working overtime to install and debug charging piles. The person in charge told reporters that in the first three quarters of 2023, the company's orders for equipment that can support overcharging increased by 200%, with monthly production capacity reaching 240 sets. The proportion of orders for overcharging equipment has increased from 20% to 50%. Our entire production line has also been expanded from the original 3 production lines to 9 production lines.
In addition to expanding production capacity, the company has also made multiple iterations on the technical paths and modules of overcharging products. The 800-kilowatt flexible shared supercharging stack is compatible with supercharging and fast charging. Our supercharging products have reserved energy storage interfaces from the beginning. Later, they can be equipped with energy storage products to relieve the pressure on the power grid. Although the application of overcharging technology has brought many opportunities to the industry chain, the construction and implementation of overcharging stations still faces many challenges. Taking cost as an example, if 800 kilowatts is equipped with one liquid-cooling gun, the cost of a fully liquid-cooled supercharging pile is approximately 0.5 yuan/watt to 0.6 yuan/watt. Compared with DC charging piles, which are about 0.3 yuan/watt, it can be about twice as high at most. In addition, problems such as insufficient grid power, few models that are suitable for overcharging, and low battery rate require coordination and linkage by multiple parties.
The impact of high-power overcharging piles on medium-voltage lines mainly depends on the power of the charging piles connected to the medium-voltage lines and the simultaneous charging rate. It may cause transient voltage fluctuations and steady-state voltage deviations on the lines. In severe cases, This causes the voltage to exceed the limit and affects the safe power consumption of other users on the same line. Experts said that in the future, the layout of the overcharging facility system will be promoted based on scenarios. Construction cannot be carried out blindly. The number of slow charging, fast charging and super charging piles should be reasonably allocated to jointly build an energy replenishment network that can meet the needs of different scenarios.
